Brecon Beacons Mountain Training Bivouac

The Centre is a stone-built 15th Century farmhouse located in the heart of the Black Mountains overlooking the Grwyne Fechan valley and pretty village of Llanbedr. The farmhouse and adjoining barn provide accommodation for groups who seek the tranquillity and outstanding beauty that this area has to offer. The house commands magnificent views over miles of unspoilt mountainside, from the Sugarloaf across the valley to the summit of Table Mountain, a mere 130 metres above the centre.

The Bunkhouse affords the facility a mountain based platform to undertake training direct from the facility.

It is also a great opportunity to meet other people planning similar adventures. Over the two days we can also answer any questions that you might have about equipment or the trip that you are undertaking. This course is open to anyone – you don’t have to be booked onto one of our Alpine Treks or Expeditions. the item and include any relevant details. Click to edit the text.

3 / The Brecon Beacons / Black Mountains

We have fifteen mountains in Snowdonia that top the magic 3000 ft mark and many more that don’t quite make it but are equally worthy of a visit. I run this trek training weekend in the spring to make the most of the quieter times in the National Park so that you can experience the true beauty of these mountains at a time when they are less visited.

Snowdonia is split into three main mountain areas, these being the Carneddau to the North, The Glyderau in the middle and then the Snowdon group. We will avoid those mountains that require scrambling to reach the summits and concentrate on those that give hill walking options with stunning views.

Other mountains that we may visit during this weekend include Cnicht, Moel Siabod, Cader Idris, Moel Hebog and many more that don’t quite hit the 3000ft mark but still give a lovely days walking. We will be guided by the weather and the group aspirations.

4 / Your Experience

You need to be a hillwalker happy to walk for two days consecutively. Treks will be no more that 10-15km each.

5 / Transport & Bunkhouse

You will be given the location of the training centre in the joining instructions. There is ample parking at the training centre and we will be utilising its prime location on both days for our mountain treks.
